Month 2 phentermine and low carb diet

Christina's Voice:
Month 2 is done!!! I am so excited over my weightloss experience that I have. I love the fact that the phentermine pill has really helped me along the way as well. I have learned a lot to, I kinda got the idea of what has lots of carbs and what doesn't. I have learned that certain food, will give you that natural energy ( like celery and broccoli ) This month I was doing the basic workouts but only 3-4 times a week. With me only staying on this phentermine for 3months I want to increase my exercise so lately I have been working out almost everyday, and focus on my abs more to. ( so that's about walk/jog 5miles a day, 60-75 squats, 50situps,100crunches,jumping jacks 40-50 and more) My increase on water is still about the same. which is a lot. Still no cokes, or sweets. Sticking to the 50 gram carb diet is really easy but hard during certain situation like cook out or weekends but I figured im pushing my work out more and hard it's okay to eat a little more because when you work out you do break a sweat. which is good. Ok final results are below!!!! AHHHHHHH ( love it)

Month Two:
  • Start off weight: 159.8

7 Supplements That Help You Perform Better On A Low Carbohydrate Diet

7 Supplements That Help You Perform Better On A Low Carbohydrate Diet

1. Sodium.

When you shift to a low carbohydrate or a ketogenic diet, your body loses storage carbohydrate, and also begins excreting sodium and water. When this happens, your blood pressure quickly drops, and much of the low energy that is attributed to “low blood sugar” when eating low carbohydrates is actually due to this low blood pressure.
Because of this, if you experience feelings of lightheadedness or sluggishness (especially during your workouts) you should include extra sodium in your diet. One strategy is to get 1-2g of extra sodium during the day by using vegetable or chicken bouillon cubes.
You’ll need to especially be sure to include extra sodium (close to 1g is good) about 30 minutes prior to your workout.

—————————————–

2. Branched Chain Amino Acids.

BCAA supplementation after exercise has been shown to cause faster recovery of muscle strength, and even more interestingly, the ability to slow down muscle breakdown – even during intense training and “overreaching” (getting very close to overtraining).
When you supplement with BCAA’s, they can decrease the blood indicators of muscle tissue damage after long periods of exercise, thus indicating reduced muscle damage, and they also help maintain higher blood levels of amino acids, which can make you feel happy even when you’re suffering during exercise.
But most importantly, if you’re on a low carbohydrate diet, when taken prior to a fasted exercise session, BCAA’s could improve your fat oxidation and utilization of storage fatty acids as a fuel.

—————————————–

3. Whole Amino Acids.

Protein quality is typically determined based on the EAA profile of any given protein, and generally, animal and dairy products contain the highest percentage of EAAs, resulting in greater protein synthesis and post-workout recovery than vegetarian protein-matched control.
But you don’t have to take a steak (or your pea and rice protein powder blend) out with you on your workouts. Most of the clients I coach are now simply popping 5 Master Amino Pattern capsules during their long workouts or races, and getting extremely fast absorbing EAA’s in the process.
Master Amino Pattern capsules are spendy, but if you want the best of AA’s, this would be the way to go. 10 before very long workouts, then 5 every hour.

—————————————–

4. Glutamine.

Glutamine plays a role in muscle glycogen synthesis and whole-body carbohydrate storage.
An oral dose of glutamine at about 8 grams can promote storage of muscle glycogen to levels similar to consuming straight glucose, which is especially useful when you don’t have much glycogen (storage carbohdyrate) to go around due to a low carbohydrate diet.
Glutamine supplementation has also been shown to enhance glucose production during exercise. Once again, if you’re carbohydrate restricted in your diet, this can be good news. There’s also some evidence that supplementation with glutamine may be effective for preventing immune suppression from strenuous exercise.

5. Taurine.

In a study entitled “Potentiation of the actions of insulin by taurine”, the amino acid taurine was shown to have a carbohydrate sparing effect. Taurine may also amplify the effect of insulin, allowing for more efficient carbohydrate utilization.
Research on taurine and caffeine containing beverages  have shown that during prolonged endurance exercise, decreased heart rate and decreased catecholamine (stress hormones) are observed compared to using caffeine alone. Based on this, many folks will slam a Red Bull energy drink during a tough, long event.
But I don’t recommend Red Bull, for a variety of reasons, including the presence of artificial sweeteners and citric acid. Instead, you can just do 2g of a taurine supplement, about 30-60 minutes prior to a tough or long exercise session in a relatively carbohydrate depleted state.
—————————————–

6. Medium Chain Triglyceride Oil or Coconut Oil.

When you exercise while on a low carbohydrate diet, you’re going to be burning lots of fatty acids as a fuel, and the medium chain triglycerides (MCT’s) that you’ll find in medium chain triglyceride oil and coconut oil can be a tremendous asset for keeping your energy levels high.
The stuff is easy to use: just take 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil or 2-3 doses of medium chain triglyceride oil about 30-60 minutes before you head out for a workout session.
You could technically repeat this dosage every 2-3 hours during something like a long bike ride, but it can be logistically difficult and messy to carry oils (feel free to leave a comment below if you have a good solution for this).
—————————————–

7. Magnesium.

Although a low carbohydrate diet doesn’t massively deplete magnesium in the same way that it does sodium, upon switching to a  low-carb diet (especially when combined with intense exercise) many people experience nighttime leg cramping and more muscle discomfort during exercise, and this is likely due to low magnesium.
About 70% of people don’t get anywhere near enough magnesium, and if you’re leaching magnesium with a combination of your sweating and a low carbohydrate diet, you’re almost guaranteed to have some muscle twitching issues. Considering that over 300 enzymes require magnesium as a co-factor to make them work properly, it’s a smart move to add magnesium into a low carbohydrate diet.
You can do about 300-500 milligrams of something like Natural Calm Magnesium before you go to bed at night (I find that this really helps me sleep better), and then 10-15 sprays of a topical magnesium on each leg immediately before your workout. Back off the total amount of magnesium you consume if you get loose stool.

2 months 3 weeks on phentermine and low carb diet

Month 2 week 3 on phentermine and low carb diet!

Christina's Voice:
Update: 2months and 3 weeks later I have lost a total of 21 pounds. Month one I have to admit I did not work out like I should have been doing. I did stick to the eating low carbs and drinking lots of water. The second month I said I was going to push myself harder. I have worked out at least every other day. one hour run ( about 5mines) 60 squats, 60 jump squats, sit up, crunches, jumping jack and some things with the yoga ball. This all is one at my house. Now next month I want to push it the gym and tone up a little stronger with the weights. I feel amazing, and I don't realize how much I have lost until I look back at these before and after shots. :) Enjoy and get ready to see more.

Christina's Voice:
Finally 30 days later, I feel extremely good! I feel like I have come along way. I got before and after picture ( front, side and back). I didn't work out as much as I should, but im going to push it more this next month. The easiest part was taken the phentermine an drinking water because it made your mouth extremely dry. ( which is kinda a good thing because you need to drink that 8 + cups of water daily) Low carb diet isn't that bad after all. As I mentioned in my last post you can find low carb meals online or in a book at your local library which helped me. Now down to the fun stuff, Pictures and 30 days later weight.. Month 1 Day 14 Phentermine - Low Carb Diet

Christina's Voice:
Today is weigh in day ( Every Saturday for  3 months). I feel GREAT!!! an I am happy I have stuck to this diet, still need to push myself harder to work out. I have to say I did work out more than the following week, but I still think I need to push myself more and harder. If this weather would stay warm I could take my self for a run early morning or late evenings. ( but sorry it's been way to cold). One thing I noticed with this diet that I have stuck to is the 8-10 cups of water a day, my face and hair seem a bit healthier from the water, and not only that my kids see me drinking lots of water and they are starting to drink more water as well. I have completely said NO to sweets, which is extremely hard for me. but when I tell myself no and that it will be worth it at the end. I think with this being the 2nd week on the diet, I'm doing great!

  • Start off weight: -  175.6
  • Week one-  169.8
  • Week two- 166.2
  • Total weight loss  9.4 ( According to my at home scales)

Mistakes you make; and Things to Remember -Diet

Three most common Mistakes
  • Not eating at all. ( missing meals or snacks will slow down your metabolism. It will also cause your blood sugar to crash, which will start the carb-addiction-syndrome again).
  • Not eating enough protein meals and snacks ( eat 5-6 protein servings each day).
  • Inadvertently eating more carbs than you realize. Keep a log of ALL foods you eat every day.
( Examples of protein snacks are beef jerky, nuts, cheese-sticks, boiled eggs, protein shakes and mixes.)

Things To Remember:
  • Always count TOTAL CARBS. Disregard the " Net Carb" listings ( the body counts all carbs.)
  • You can use butter, oil, mayo, ranch dressing, blue cheese, & bacon for seasoning & cooking. DO NOT USE FAT FREE PRODUCTS. you may grill, broil, roast, bake, & fry. ( If you eat fried breaded foods, you must count the extra carbs from the flour breading.)
  • Limit your Caffeine if it causes you to feel nervous in conjunction with the phentermine. Alcohol by itself is low in carbs, but may stimulate your appetite and be counterproductive.
  • You may use artificial sweeteners such as Splenda, and Sweet & Low ( but be aware that they may trigger the carb-addiction-syndrome by tricking the brain into thinking they are a sugar.)
  • Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.
  • Keep Carbs intake between 20 and 50 grams per day.
  • Exercise at least 30 mins a day, 3-5 times per week. ( example: walking swimming dvd aerobics, yoga, Wi Fitness, kick boxing, martial arts, weight lifting, and dancing.)
  • Constipation can be relieved by over the counter meds such as : Senokot S, Metamucil, Glycerin suppositories, and stool softners. Be sure to include a lot of fiber from green veggies in your diet.
  • USE CAUTION WITH HIGH- CARBS STUFF:  sweets, breads, pasta, rice, beans, peas, corn, potatoes, and fruit.

Review: Ozeri Cardiotech Digital Blood pressure Monitor

Christina's Voice:
The ozeri Cardiotech digital blood pressure monitor is a great on the go product to take with you if you deal with having high blood pressure like myself. Of course having high blood pressure is nothing to mess with, that you should see a doctor if you are having concerns. This one goes around your wrist and can store up to 180 blood pressure readings, which is good for me because I have to tell the doc when mine was high or when it's normal. I too my BP ( Blood pressure)several times at once just to see how the machine was working, and see how accurate it read each time. I have to say this anything that takes batteries all you have to do is make sure they don't go dead or low, and you will get great accurate fast results. This product is awesome and would recommend it to anyone who has to deal with BP.

Did you know Calories are required by the body to producte energy?

Calories are required by the body to produce the energy to function. Calories are I all foods: Carbohydrate calories, protein calories, and fat calories. Most foods have combination of all three types of calories. The body will use what calories it needs to function, and then
1) stores unused carbs calories
 2) eliminates ( through heat and waste) unused protein calories and unused fat calories.
Counting calorie I an effective way to lose weight if you are minimizing carbohydrates calories, which brings u back to counting carbs and keeping them under 50grams a day,

All green vegetables ( except green peas) have a minimal to no carbs, and they are excellent source of fiber, minerals, and vitamins.
Example of green vegetables: green beans, broccoli ,lettuce, cabbage,  squash, spinach, turnip greens cucumbers celery  ( ahh and so much more the list could go on.)

Fat Products -Diet Plan

Fat Products are NOT stored s fat cells. Your body uses what fats it needs, and then eliminates ( through heat and waste) the rest. Fats are necessary building blocks for hormone and enzymes development, and serve to insulate the body's nervous system tissue. Oils from fish, nuts, olive oil, and canola oil contain heart healthy antioxidants. DO NOT eat fat-free foods!!! The fat is removed and replaced with corn syrup; this is fat-foods are actually fattening.

Example of foods that are rich in saturated and unsaturated fats: Butter, Mayonnaise, ranch dressing, blue cheese dressing, canola and olive oil, fish ,bacon, nuts.

Protein foods- Diet Plan

Protein foods are not stored as fat cells. Normal cells throughout the body continually die and must be replaced. Protein foods make new cells in the body, and also contribute to muscle development. The more protein you eat, the more weight you will lose, because protein requires fat to metabolize; thus, protein prevents carbohydrate craving. Protein also gives you more energy. Examples of foods high in protein: all meats ( chicken, fish, beef, pork), dairy products ( cottage cheese, sliced cheese, cream cheese), eggs ( cooked any way you like),nuts whey protein products.

Month 1 Day 2 : Phentermine - low carb diet

What is phentermine?

Is an Oral phentermine Hydrochloride (HCL) which is sold for weight loss. It is in the Sympathomimetic family of appetite suppressants (used for the short-term management of exogenous obesity.) When used in conjunction with diet,
(low carbs) exercise, and behavior therapy, phentermine may help you to lose weight while you are learning new ways to eat and to exercise.

How does Phentermine work?

Phentermine works by stimulating the hypothalamus gland and affecting certain neurotransmitters to decrease appetite. The hypothalamus is the region of the brain that controls the autonomic nervous system, regulating sleep cycles, body temperature, appetite, etc.

Christina's Voice:
Okay I told everyone that I would update you as I think it was needed. Today is day 2 taking the phentermine, I feel great. Now yesterday with being day 1 they say take a half a pill or even a quarter of the phentermine pill. I took half of it at 1pm ( that's as soon as I left the clinic apt) I could actually feel the energy as I went to finish up my day. So by 2:30-3pm I decided what the heck lets just take the other half. Same results as the first half nothing scary like I have been told. I did notice I caught myself looking at what I was about to eat. ( the carbs) which is a good thing being on a low carb diet, and im sure it wont be long that I memorize those.
So back to Day 2 on the phentermine. I feel great I took a whole one today 1 hour before I ate ( or you could do 2 hours after you eat). I feel lots of energy and im sitting here trying to drink my 8 glasses of water, and snacking about 4-5 times today. ( staying under my 50 carbs.) I am going to do a 30 mins work out today. ( which can be any of your favorites)  and mentioning workout your suppose to at least work out 30mins a day for 3 days a week... I am sorry no matter how busy you are you should at least be able to do that. Day2 once again I feel great. My heart beat seems the same, it's not racing like some people say it would do.. ( but keep in mind we are not all the same).

Pro's- Energy, No appetite

Cons- major dry mouth

Carbohydrates- Diet plan

Carbohydrates are the only units of food your body stores as a fat cell. Everyone should monitor there intake of carbohydrates, which is something I have never did or even realize that I should do. This alone will help you lose weight.  The minimum intake of carbohydrates, is 20 grams. Which when I look at the back of food items I noticed they really do add up quick. 20 grams is recommended to prevent ketosis . Keeping carbs between 20-50 Grams ( not % which is also seen on the back) each day has proven to be safe for your health, and ensures weight loss. It is recommended that you look up every food, you want to eat. ( which after a while you seem to memorize them). You don't want to go over your 50 grams right? so this is why we count our carbs. We all need carbohydrates reference guide to keep with you at all times, to be sure you count the carbs. Which now a days you can download an app on your phone for free that helps you. or just get a guide on hand.

EXAMPLE OF FOODS THAT ARE HIGH IN CARBS: Anything made with sugar, anything made with sugar, anything made with flour (including pasta), rice(50g/cup), dried beans(40g/cup), green peas( 40g/cup) corn (28g/ear).
